Jessica Leigh Missions

To be a true victim of love we must surrender ourselves entirely...Love will consume us only in the measure of our self-surrender.  -Therese of Lisieux

A Letter from Jessica:

Dear Family & Friends,

My mission in life is to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ means to know who I am in Jesus Christ--a child of God, co-heir with Christ, a servant of the Most High God and more--and live, being exactly that. It also means that I live to fulfill God's greatest commission--that is, to lead others to know who they are in Christ and help them to actualize their divine destiny. While what I say may sound grandiose, I have nothing special to offer except to simply teach others what God has been teaching me.

When the Lord was leading me to resign from staff at New Community Church and to take a sabbatical in 2015, I was not sure what awaited me on the other end. It was not an easy decision, but with some apprehension and anticipation of what God might do with and through my life next, I embarked on a new turn. I rested, prayed, and traveled. Also, I decided to volunteer at the Youth With A Mission organization (YWAM) in Kona, Hawaii. While working alongside young college-aged volunteers and serving college-aged students, I fell in love with them. God opened my eyes to see how He loved His people and was moving all around the world, raising up young people on fire for the Lord. He then began to introduce me to a few faculty staff. One of the staff was the Counseling School Coordinator at Kona, Hawaii. She invited me to come out to YWAM and work with her. She said I could counsel students and staff, & teach as a part of their curriculum and/or teach on various topics as needed. After much prayer and confirmation, I have decided to accept the invitation to work as a missionary staff member at YWAM.

God always supercedes our expectations. I have certain expectations of what might happen at YWAM, but I am wide open to what, where, when and how He may guide me and the counseling school in the bigger scheme of things. After participating in Discipleship Training School (DTS) and outreach in January 2017, which is a YWAM's requirement to serve at staff capacity, I will be joining the team in the counseling school. My personal mission to be a disciple of Jesus Christ and helping others to be the same will continue with perhaps a different look to what I have been doing so far. God has opened a new chapter in my life. I invite you to journey with me and see how God takes me to the next step and then the next.

Many blessings,
Jessica
